COVID-19 | Latest developments
We are mindful of the growing concerns surrounding COVID-19 and want to assure you that the well-being of our employees and partners remains our top priority. We are actively monitoring the situation globally and will continue to implement precautionary measures in line with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health authorities.
Our goal is to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on our employees and customers. To that effect, GMN has eliminated non-essential business travel and is actively screening all visitors entering the premises. Social distancing guidelines are being strictly executed and telecommuting is highly encouraged. GMN has also installed hand sanitizing stations and divisional janitorial crews are placing extra effort on disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.
A temperature monitoring process for all employees and visitors has been implemented across all divisions. All employees are mandated to wear a surgical mask (provided by GMN daily) as soon as they enter any GMN facility. Designated waste bins have been placed throughout the divisions to ensure proper disposal of the masks.
In the last few weeks, some of our divisions have been impacted by the virus in the following ways -
China division: The COVID-19 outbreak prompted GMN China to extend the Lunar New Year holiday by more than ten days. In alignment with the guidelines from local health authorities, GMN China resumed its operations in February and is meeting all production commitments.
San Jose, CA division: After a Northern California shelter-in-place order issued on March 13th, California issued a statewide order on March 16th. Our San Jose, CA division has been affected by this directive.
However, as GMN manufactures components for critical medical companies, we have been granted an exemption to continue production on a limited basis. We expect to be back to full production after May 4th.
Seattle, WA division: A GMN employee, who had been out of the office for ten days, was tested positive for Coronavirus in early March. GMN reached out to all the employees that might have been in close contact with the individual and enhanced its deep cleaning efforts. The entire facility, including production floor, offices, and common spaces, was extensively disinfected through third-party commercial services. We are glad to report that the individual is in good condition and has fully recovered. GMN is taking pro-active steps to reduce the risk of community spread by daily temperature monitoring of all employees, mandating the use of face masks, social distancing and encouraging telecommuting.
A ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy’ order has been issued to all Washingtonians and non-essential businesses will be closed under this directive. However, as an essential manufacturer for critical industries including medical, defense, energy, and agriculture, GMN has been exempted under this order and will continue production.
Beaverton, Oregon division: A statewide ‘Stay at Home’ order has been issued in Oregon. As an essential manufacturer, GMN is granted permission to continue production in Beaverton as well. GMN has implemented social distancing guidelines and taking all precautionary measures in alignment with the local and federal authorities.
Monroe, NC division: A statewide ‘Stay at Home’ order has been issued in North Carolina. As an essential manufacturer, GMN is has been exempted under this order and is operating under normal hours.
Singapore division: With the second wave of Coronavirus infections surging in Southeast Asia, Singapore has ordered a lockdown of all non-essential businesses. GMN is an essential business and is currently operating under regular business hours and meeting all production commitments.
We are engaging our business continuation strategies to best support our customers in these volatile times. We will advise of any impact on ongoing orders as we continue to work diligently to meet our commitments.
The COVID-19 situation is constantly evolving, and we will be adopting new safety protocols as the situation warrants. The latest developments will be posted on this page as they become available.
